The guidance we need.

Due to the lack of guidance and right counselling students, primarily after F.Sc., get very confused and end up taking gap years.

I care about the issue of career counselling, so there’s this culture in Pakistan that there’s only a few fields where success is guaranteed, students, as soon as they pass their Matriculation exams are confused about what to do, what to choose, the majority go for Pre-Medical, with their hopes of getting in a medical college, the others go for Pre-Engineering, with that settled they have their mindset on becoming either a doctor, an engineer, or joining the armed forces as young officers, all of these are excellent career paths in their own respect, but let’s face it, not everyone can become a doctor, an engineer and its not necessary you’re cut out for the forces, and the people who fall in these categories believe themselves to be useless, incompetent and have already decided that they are “Mediocre”.

The issue, in my opinion, is alarming as this leads to students taking rash decisions which they later regret. Many students don’t even have any idea what kind of career paths exist. There are a plethora of career paths each more interesting than the other all waiting for someone to excel at them. I decided to talk to close friends regarding the matter, a few professors at my University and some college teachers to get insight, all of them were on the same page, their response was encouraging and told me to work on it, many friends got onboard with the idea and I started thinking about the next step. One idea was to visit schools and colleges, mostly focusing remote villages and backward areas but the current situation i.e. Covid-19 and other factors don't help the cause and so I keep looking out for solutions, refining them.

I believe if I can help a single student get his path right, I’d have done my part.
